Everything. Community is everything.
Building relationships with one another and the energy like we've got here at Swedemom and with our community-I've never seen anything like it. I'm very blessed to be watching it happen.
I have seen people come through our programs here who had no home, no place to go, who got a job and now are living in their own homes. They were able to get out of their situation because they were surrounded by community. It was the community here in the business and the external relationships built all around it.
It's a beautiful thing, community. There's nothing like it, and we need more of it.
My mom. She was my greatest supporter. She taught me how to have compassion and see the beauty in all things. She was the original Swedemom for me.
She's my biggest inspiration, and I miss her greatly right now. I know she's watching.
Cami organizes Swedemom's ever-growing stock of donations.
If I knew what I know now, I don't know if I would have ever started! I am not a business person. I've always been a creative person. However, when I start something, I never stop until it's completed the best it can be.
I have this competitive, entrepreneurial heart that wants to solve a problem, then I give it all I got. And that's how I played basketball too.
I tried to win the game. That's what I've been doing with this business-making sure we keep trying to win the game of business.
A barcode scanner and a database. I'm telling you! I mean it!
Having that faster technology and all that information at your fingertips-I use that every single day.
eBay gives sellers some very nice tools. Originally, I had to build my own tools to solve my problems, but now eBay has all the tools anybody would ever need.
These days I can look at eBay's Seller Hub and just dive in. I love Seller Hub. They have a whole slew of things that are really helpful that we didn't have a few years back. I've been really looking at my Listing Quality report.
And there's a new tool I'm excited about. I don't know if anybody else knows about it yet. It's Promoted Listings Express for your auction listings, and we have had great success with it.
Finally, we can promote our auctions again! That used to be the big thing on eBay back in the early 2000s, and we have auctions going every day,
Cami designs her eBay storefront to be as attractive and browsable as possible.
In high-school and college, I played basketball. I was a point guard, so I got to call the plays, and my goal was to find the right person to make the play and score. That's where I am today. I am passing the ball to better players who can score.
I've been running this business a long time now. I'd like to get back into the stands and cheer everyone on in the near future.
I am drawn to quotes from women who have gone through something very difficult, because then it's like their light shines a bit further to all of us.
Anne Frank had a lot of wisdom and suffered greatly. She wrote in her diary, "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
I can do that with one person at a time. I can do that with one customer at a time on eBay. It's cool.
