‌This Statement reflects Cognizant's organizational commitment to environmental stewardship and applies across all Cognizant entities and subsidiaries over which Cognizant has operational control.‌

Cognizant aims to meet all applicable environmental compliance obligations across the enterprise.

Cognizant's Environmental Policy Statement helps reduce our environmental footprint, manage climate-related risks, and meet compliance obligations by aligning with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and globally accepted sustainability related standards and frameworks.

Cognizant has set a goal of achieving net-zero GHG emissions. We are committed to reducing our absolute emissions by 50% by 2030 and 90% by 2040. We have also committed to sourcing 100% renewable electricity by 2026 and achieving zero e-waste to landfill by 2030.

Our science-based target aligns with limiting warming to 1.5°C and is validated by the SBTi, following GHG Protocol standards and a

third-party provides limited assurance across Scopes 1,2 and 3.

Our Chief Legal Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and Corporate Secretary is responsible for overseeing the creation, implementation, and execution of the commitments detailed in this Environmental Policy Statement.

The Board oversees sustainability, ethics, compliance, and risk, with committees tracking progress and managing climate and enterprise risks. Management responsibility sits with the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer (CECO), who leads daily climate and sustainability work and reports to senior legal and administrative leaders.

‌Environment Policy Statement‌

Cognizant targets high-emission suppliers by requiring emissions reporting and science-based targets. Associates are trained in climate and sustainability skills to support Net Zero. The company also works with clients to cut emissions and provides low-carbon technology and sustainability solutions.

Cognizant prioritizes reducing electronic waste (e-waste) and has set a goal of achieving zero e-waste to landfill by 2030, in alignment with international recycling and reuse guidelines.

Cognizant identifies key climate-related risks and opportunities using its annual Facilities All Hazards Risk Assessment (FAHRA), which evaluates actual and potential threats impacting our business operations, including those related to climate-change-generated extreme weather conditions. Cognizant also periodically conducts scenario analyses to assess impacts under different warming pathways

We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint through responsible waste management and by advancing water recycling and conservation across our owned campuses. We also promote energy efficiency and conservation and support sustainable mobility initiatives.

We share sustainability progress through our annual Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship Report, aligned with globally accepted standards, and report emissions progress annually to CDP.
