SOUTH32 LEAD TEAM CHANGE

South32 Chief Executive Officer, Graham Kerr, today announced that Mike Fraser, South32 Chief Operating Officer with accountability for our operations in Africa and Colombia, has decided to leave the company to pursue other opportunities.

Noel Pillay, currently Vice President Operations at Worsley Alumina, will be appointed to the role of Chief Operating Officer, alongside Jason Economidis, who remains Chief Operating Officer with accountability for our operations in Australia. Mr Pillay will shortly return to South Africa to assume his accountabilities following a handover period with Mr Fraser.

Mr Kerr said: "Mike has been part of the South32 Lead Team since day one. His contribution to the company will be lasting and includes his roles securing power supply for Hillside to support the sustainability of the smelter, the roll-out of our energy efficiency technology at Mozal and unlocking value through numerous projects at Cerro Matoso. He has led initiatives across our business that underpin the stable and predictable performance at many of our operations. I would like to thank Mike for his significant contribution to South32 and wish him well for the future.

"Noel has extensive experience from over 25 years at our operations where he has held various leadership roles. At Worsley Alumina, Noel led improvement initiatives that have enabled the refinery to achieve record production in FY21, operating above nameplate capacity for the first time while also overseeing an improvement in safety performance. Prior to Worsley, Noel was Vice President Operations at Hillside Aluminium. He will bring considerable operating expertise to his leadership of our operations in Africa and Colombia and as a member of the South32 Lead Team."

Erwin Schaufler, who is currently General Manager Refinery at Worsley Alumina, will replace Mr Pillay as Vice President Operations.
