Amazon closed its biggest Prime Day(s) ever this week, but the question is whether the American company can maintain its lead. Chinese e-commerce parties like AliExpress or more recently Temu are advancing.

The infographic below looks specifically at Chinese company Pinduoduo. Which, by 2024, will be only 13 percent behind Amazon in terms of gross trade volume. To put this in perspective, in 2019, Amazon's gross trade volume was more than twice that of Pinduoduo.

Pinduoduo also owns the online marketplace Temu. The Temu app went online in the U.S. in the fall of 2022. Although Temu's global merchandise volume of about $30 billion is still quite small compared to amazon.com's $389 billion, sales projections point upward.
