Brookfield Asset Management is investing $500 million a new artificial intelligence deployment platform set up by OpenAI and global investors.

Brookfield Business Corp., the flagship listed vehicle of Brookfield's private equity business, will lead the New York-based asset manager's investment in the partnership.

OpenAI Deployment is focused on enabling large enterprises to move from pilot AI use cases to enterprise-wide deployment, accelerating large-scale adoption and addressing one of the key bottlenecks in realizing AI-driven productivity, Brookfield said.

Brookfield over the last several years has been scaling up its AI activities. It said it expects to draw on OpenAI Deployment's abilities across its operating companies and investment platform to boost productivity, improve decision-making and drive efficiency gains.

"Artificial intelligence will be a defining driver of productivity across the backbone of the global economy," Anuj Ranjan, chief executive of Brookfield's private equity business, said.

"The opportunity now is execution at scale. Driving further growth and greater performance across a wider set of businesses and functions."
