WASHINGTON, March 26 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump will grant up to a one-month reprieve for auto parts imports from his new 25% automotive tariffs, according to his signed proclamation.
The proclamation says that automobiles will be subject to the 25% tariff after 12:01 a.m. EDT (0401 GMT) on April 3, but auto parts will be subject to the tariffs on a date to be specified in a Federal Register notice, "but no later than May 3, 2025."
The duties "shall continue in effect, unless such actions are expressly reduced, modified or terminated," the proclamation reads. The proclamation does not contain specific tariff codes for items subject to the duties. (Reporting by David Lawder; Editing by Sandra Maler)
