Raids on European meal delivery company

The European Commission regulator has conducted raids on Delivery Hero in Berlin and its Glovo in Barcelona. They are being investigated for unfair market practices.

The Commission says it is a deepening of an investigation that started in 2022. Delivery Hero has not been charged. It is not a given that that will happen at all.

It is investigating practices of unfair competition. For example, officials are looking at whether there is evidence that shows competitors are contractually shutting out Glovo in deals with restaurants.

Glovo has been wholly owned by Delivery Hero since July 2022. The former operates in 25 countries, mainly around the Mediterranean Sea.
