CBRE and Meta Platforms have created a multiyear platform to recruit and train thousands of fiber technicians to build Meta's data centers in the U.S.

The commercial real-estate company said Monday it will establish and run multiple training centers across the U.S. starting this summer to support the program.

The program is designed to address a shortage of fiber technicians needed to build data center infrastructure, which is exploding as technology companies need more capacity to fuel their AI development.

Meta has 27 data centers under construction or operational in the U.S. and more in the planning stages.

CBRE will train workers to install technical infrastructure, fiber-optic cables, network gear and other equipment. Graduates will have the chance to work at Meta's construction sites through the tech conglomerate's network of contractors.
