Kinross Gold : Lobo-Marte marks exciting project milestone!

Kinross Gold is excited to announce that our Lobo-Marte project's Environmental Impact Statement has been accepted for review by the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA) of Chile.

This announcement marks an important milestone for Kinross by beginning the formal assessment process for a project that is expected to be one of the most significant gold mining projects in Chile.

"Lobo-Marte represents the next stage of our operational strategy in Chile, and supports long-life production potential in the Atacama region," said Max Combes, Senior Vice-President, Strategic Growth, Chile. "We look forward to responsibly advancing this project, as well as the future of La Coipa and Maricunga, while continuing to deliver positive contributions to the region and surrounding communities."

The Lobo-Marte project, located approximately 170 kilometres northeast of Copiapó envisions a 16-year operational mine life with an expected life-of-mine production of approximately 4.7 million gold equivalent ounces. The project plan focuses on high environmental, technical and safety standards, economic growth, job creation and the participation of local suppliers.

Another key element of the project's development includes maintaining our commitment to transparent, meaningful and productive relationships with stakeholders through Early Citizen Participation (ECP), a process created to allow a space for in-person and online dialogue, reaching 5,000 people, including Colla Indigenous communities, local authorities, and other stakeholders in the region.

"This shows that when projects are developed in consultation with local communities from the outset, more favorable conditions for their implementation are created, fostering processes that are more collaborative and sustainable over time."

Kinross Chile has operated in the Atacama region for over 30 years and maintains a sustained contribution to regional development. Since 2010, Kinross has generated more than US$1.7 billion in socioeconomic benefits, with a strong focus on supporting local suppliers and social programs.
