Apple chief Tim Cook is stepping down from the job that he inherited from the late Steve Jobs. It ends a nearly 15-year reign that saw the company's market value soar by over $3.6 trillion during an iPhone-fuelled era of prosperity. Cook will hand over to Apple's head of hardware engineering, John Ternus, in September.
Matt Britzman, senior equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: "The real question for investors is what comes next... Ternus now faces the task of turning Apple's improving AI software into a genuinely AI-led device experience that's compelling enough to drive the next major hardware upgrade cycle."
