PPL : Electric Utilities is prepared for severe weather threat

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (June 19, 2025) - PPL Electric Utilities is closely monitoring forecasts for a round of severe weather set to bring strong winds and lightning to its entire service territory in central and eastern Pennsylvania on Thursday afternoon into the evening hours. Current forecasts call for the potential of 50-plus mph winds and lightning, as well as rainfall adding to already saturated ground throughout the area. PPL Electric is prepared and has over 250 lineworker crews ready to respond as safely and quickly as possible to any customer outages.

"The combination of high winds, lightning and rain could make for a powerful system to kick off the summer storm season," said Christine Martin, president of PPL Electric Utilities. "PPL Electric wants customers to know that we are ready - we prepare year-round for severe weather and all its unpredictability.
