Shares of Canadian auto parts makers rose sharply after President Trump announced a temporary pause on most tariffs, but those on Canada's automotive sector will remain.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent later clarified that sectoral tariffs, like the 25% automotive and steel tariffs on Canada, won't be reduced to 10% like other sectors, confirming that the reductions only apply to reciprocal tariffs.
