Compass Datacenters Drops Planned Prince William Digital Gateway Project

Compass Datacenters is walking away from efforts to develop a large swath of Northern Virginia into a data center corridor.

The builder of large-scale data centers, which is backed by Brookfield Asset Management and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, said it had reached the decision that it couldn't move forward with the digital gateway project in Prince William County.

"While we still believe this project offered significant benefits for the region and our neighbors, recent legal actions and compounding regulatory hurdles have effectively closed a viable path forward," President AJ Byers said.
