AtkinsRealis, a world-class engineering services and nuclear company with offices around the world, has been awarded a full service Architectural and Engineering (A&E) services contract from the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Central Federal Lands Highway Division (CFLHD) to provide better access to national parks, recreational areas, national monuments and national forests across 14 states.

'We are proud to continue our 24-year relationship helping to deliver a safe, reliable, equitable and resilient transportation system for everyone accessing Federal and Tribal Lands,' said Steve Morriss. 'AtkinsRealis has an established award-winning legacy of applying innovative and diverse solutions that account for unique and challenging terrain, varying seasonal roadway volumes and environmentally sensitive locations.'

Work under the five-year contract primarily involves improvements to rural low-volume roadways in environmentally delicate areas requiring context specific design solutions for work ranging from pavement preservation to resurfacing, restoration and rehabilitation to full reconstruction. Transportation-related engineering and surveying services will include planning, scoping, environmental compliance, preliminary and final design to prepare contract documents in support of several Federally funded programs administered by CFLHD.

'From the Dakotas to Texas and from Oklahoma to Hawaii, we have more than 1,400 AtkinsRealis team members available under this contract who possesses a wide range of transportation, structural and trail design expertise within the CFLHD's 14 state region,' said Brad Dennard, Senior Vice President, DOT Business Unit Director US, Roads Global Market Lead, AtkinsRealis. 'We possess a unique understanding of how to successfully manage the various requirements and obligations that accompany the different federal, state and local polices, regulations and funding mechanisms.'

AtkinsRealis has completed 233 task work orders for CFLHD since 2001. Current projects include transforming the visitor experience at Yosemite National Park, engineering solutions to sustain the coastline at the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, improving access to the Beartooth Highway an All-American Road and Scenic Byway, supporting annual gravel road needs of the Office of Missile Air Defense (OMAD) Program and designing resilient and multimodal access to Kilauea Point, Kauai.
