HOUSTON - May 1, 2026 - As significant rain and weather moved through the Greater Houston area overnight and throughout the day, approximately 96% of CenterPoint Energy's 2.9 million customers experienced no impacts to their electric service due to the significant weather.
At the peak of today's storm activity around 11 a.m., approximately 14,800 customers were without service. About 126,000 customers have experienced service interruptions since midnight, with over 123,700 of those customers restored as of 9 p.m. The average restoration time per outage is approximately 90 minutes. As of 9 p.m., approximately 2,300 customers are currently without power - less than 0.1% of CenterPoint's customers.
To prepare for the weather impacts, crews were pre-positioned across the area and continue actively restoring customers experiencing outages. Since midnight, across CenterPoint's 150 weather station network, widespread rain totals between 1 - 3" have been observed, with isolated peak values between 4 - 5.5" primarily north of I-10 and wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
"Our focus remains on restoring service for our remaining customers affected by today's storms. That's why our crews continue working across the Greater Houston area to safely and quickly restore isolated outages," said Nathan Brownell, CenterPoint's Vice President of Resilience and Capital Delivery and Incident Commander.
CenterPoint's Emergency Operations Center will remain activated overnight as crews continue supporting restoration efforts.

HOUSTON - May 1, 2026 - With potential severe weather expected to impact the Greater Houston area today, CenterPoint Energy's Emergency Operations Center remains activated as more than 1,300 frontline employees and contractors stand ready to respond and support potential restoration efforts. Following continued monitoring of forecast conditions, the company proactively activated its Emergency Operations Center yesterday and continues executing preparedness actions across the system while coordinating closely with emergency management partners.

HOUSTON - May 1, 2026 - As severe weather moved through the Greater Houston area overnight and throughout the day, more than 96% of CenterPoint Energy's 2.9 million customers experienced no impacts to their electric service due to significant weather, as of 4 p.m.
At the peak of today's storm activity around 11 a.m., approximately 14,800 customers were without service. About 106,000 customers have experienced service interruptions since midnight, with over 103,200 of those customers restored as of 4 p.m. The average restoration time per outage is approximately 90 minutes. As of 4 p.m., approximately 3,000 customers are currently without power - approximately 0.1% of CenterPoint's customers. These numbers may continue to fluctuate as additional storms move through the area this afternoon and evening.
Crews have been pre-positioned across the area and are actively restoring customers experiencing outages in the areas most impacted, including the Katy, Cypress, Baytown, Humble and Greenspoint areas of the company's electric service territory, which experienced heavy rainfall and localized flooding.
CenterPoint's Emergency Operations Center remains activated as crews support restoration efforts and continue executing preparedness actions ahead of continued weather impacts today.
"We know one outage is one too many and we are committed to getting the lights back on for each of those customers experiencing isolated outages following today's storms. "As heavy rainfall continues and the threat of flooding remains across the area, we urge customers to stay prepared. We urge customers to stay aware and alert to the dangers of flood waters - and stay away from downed power lines that could be submerged in standing water. If you see a downed power line, stay at least 35 feet away and call us at 713-207-2222 to report."

HOUSTON - April 30, 2026 - With the potential for severe weather - including thunderstorms, locally heavy rain, isolated flooding, hail and strong winds up to 40 - 50+ mph - to impact the Greater Houston area on Friday, CenterPoint Energy has proactively activated its Emergency Operations Center. More than 1,300 frontline employees and contractors are prepared to respond, as the company continues to closely monitor forecasts, coordinate with emergency management partners and position resources to support safe and timely response to any potential impacts to electric and natural gas service.

HOUSTON - April 29, 2026 - CenterPoint Energy is actively monitoring and preparing for an incoming line of potentially severe thunderstorms forecasted to impact the Greater Houston area Friday afternoon and evening, bringing chances for heavy rain, flooding, hail and strong winds with gusts up to 40 - 50+ mph to the company's service territory. CenterPoint's workforce is prepared to respond to any impacts to electric service, and the company continues to communicate and coordinate with local government officials ahead of Friday's forecast.
