The U.K. antitrust regulator said it started a probe to assess whether Wabtec's proposed 890 million-euro ($1.03 billion) acquisition of Dellner Couplers could harm competition.
The U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority said Wednesday that it set a deadline of Aug. 22 for a decision on its initial investigation into the deal.
Transport-equipment company Wabtec in March agreed to buy Dellner Couplers, a manufacturer of passenger train connection systems, from Swedish investment group EQT.
