Being a good neighbour matters to us at United Living and giving back to the people and communities who live and work alongside us is essential.

In that spirit, United Living Property Services, with our partner contractor NOVO Facades, recently donated a selection of reading books to Lady Zia Wernher school in Luton, Bedfordshire, to help the students with their learning.

Lady Zia Wernher is a primary community special school educating children in EYFS, KS1&2. All children attending the school have a severe or profound learning difficulty. Additional pupil needs can include physical, sensory and communication impairment, autistic spectrum disorder and complex medical needs.

The donation of books to the school has had a positive impact and will regularly be used by the students to aid them during their classes.

Jacquie Noon, Social Media Manager, United Living Group, said: 'United Living is committed to building strong community relationships, and it was a pleasure to provide Lady Zia Wernher school with the reading books to help their students'.

Lady Zia Wernher Headteacher, said 'Our children engage learning through stories. The repetition and rhythm of storytelling are great for our pupils' learning. Having multiple copies of books enables the pupils to follow the teacher-led story sessions in smaller groupings helping to maintain concentration and personalisation learning.

'Some of our pupils are not cognitively able enough to know how to be careful with books, and therefore our books suffer a high frequency of damage. By United Living replacing some of our stock, it means we can maintain a good level of resourcing in our library.'
