Apple Announces macOS Big Sur Update, Fixes Bluetooth and External Display Issues

Apple has officially released macOS Big Sur 11.2 for all Apple users after 3 RC builds being released over the past. The release includes some important fixes for the external display, for Bluetooth, iCloud issues and other issues.

macOS Big Sur 11.2 is now rolling out and it should be seen by Apple users in Systems Preferences, under Software Update. Keep checking back if you do not see the update right away.

Apple users have been eager to see this type of update as some notable issues with the external displays, Bluetooth, iCloud and the new ProRAW pictures have been affected many Apple users.

Apple macOS Big Sur 11.2 update

The 11.2 Big Sur public released is created by 20D64, the same as RC3 that was seen for beta testers a week ago. The 11.2 Big Sur weighs in at up to 3.66 GB, according to 9 to 5 Mac.

The macOS Big Sur 11.2 improves the Bluetooth reliability of Apple users and it also fixes the other issues.

The macOS Big Sur 11.2 fixes the external displays that show a black screen whenever it is connected to a Mac mini by using an HDMI to DVI converter.

The macOS also fixes Photos app since some edits to Apple ProRAW may not save properly. There are instances wherein the iCloud Drive turns off after disabling the iCloud Drive Desktop and Documents Folders option, and that can be fixed as well.

The macOS also fixes System Preferences that may not unlock when entering the administrator password and when the globe key does not display the Emoji & Symbols pane when it is pressed.

The first and second beta of Apple did not have any detailed release notes and it contained numerous bug fixes. The release candidate and the third beta had fixes that is present in the final release, according to AOL.

Apple's first and second beta

Back in December 2020, iOS 14.4, watchOS 7.3, iPadOS 14.4 and tvOS 14.4 beta releases, Apple has given developers with the first test version of macOS Big Sur 11.2.

The betas can be downloaded through the Apple Developer Center for those who are in the developer test program, but hardware already running beta software can be received through an over-the-air update.

The public beta variants usually arrive a short time after developer versions and it can be opened through the Apple Beta Software Program website.

However, Apple did not give any detailed release notes beyond the bug fixes, but if any new features are available in macOS 11.2, they will be discovered in the next couple of months. Apple has been optimizing Macs running the M1 processor since 2020.

The new beta cycle arrives after Apple launched macOS 11.1 on December 14. It also included support for AirPods Max and new privacy labels on the Mac App Store.

According to AppleInsider, users should not install the betas on to the mission-critical or to primary devices because of the potential data loss or other issues.

Instead, Apple recommends to install betas onto non-essential devices or if you have any secondary devices, and to make sure that there are sufficient backups of important data beforehand.
