Amgen is putting $300 million more into expanding its U.S. manufacturing, with the money going toward enlarging its biologics plant in Puerto Rico.
The biotechnology company said Monday that the investment will go toward boosting production capacity, supporting new technologies and to help ensure a steady supply of its medicines.
The investment extends Amgen's U.S. manufacturing push, which already includes major projects in Puerto Rico, Ohio, California and North Carolina.
The expansion will add advanced manufacturing roles, support local workforce programs and create construction jobs. Amgen's Juncos site is already one of the world's largest biologics plants, it said.
