The worst performing sector as of midday Wednesday is the Utilities sector, showing a 0.9% loss. Within the sector, WEC Energy Group Inc (NYSE:WEC) and FirstEnergy Corp (NYSE:FE) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 2.2% and 1.8%, respectively. Among utilities ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (NYSE:XLU), which is down 0.9% on the day, and up 7.23% year-to-date. WEC Energy Group Inc, meanwhile, is up 4.01% year-to-date, and FirstEnergy Corp is up 27.23% year-to-date. Combined, WEC and FE make up approximately 5.5% of the underlying holdings of XLU.
The next worst performing sector is the Consumer Products sector, showing a 0.7% loss. Among large Consumer Products stocks, Mondelez International Inc (NASDAQ:MDLZ) and Tapestry Inc (NYSE:TPR) are the most notable, showing a loss of 2.7% and 2.2%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Consumer Products stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Goods ETF (IYK), which is down 0.5% in midday trading, and up 6.19% on a year-to-date basis. Mondelez International Inc, meanwhile, is up 9.59% year-to-date, and Tapestry Inc is up 29.09% year-to-date. Combined, MDLZ and TPR make up approximately 3.1% of the underlying holdings of IYK.
