Hoya investigating causes and effects of IT system incident
(Alliance News) - Hoya Corp on Thursday said several of its business divisions were affected by an IT system incident last week.
Hoya is a Tokyo-based medical technology company which provides eyeglasses, medical endoscopes, intraocular lenses, optical lenses, as well as key components for semiconductor devices.
The company believes that the incident, which was discovered on March 30, was caused by unauthorized access to its servers by a third party.
The company said that it is currently investigating the full extent and nature of the incident.
"We are also investigating whether any confidential or personal information held by the company has been compromised or accessed by third parties, but the full analysis is expected to take a considerable number of days," it added.
Hoya also noted that impact of the incident on its business performance is not known at this time.
Shares in Hoya were up 1.7% at JPY18,490.00 each in Tokyo on Thursday.
