STOCKHOLM--EQT will form a joint venture with U.S. temperature-controlled logistics and real estate provider Americold Realty Trust that seeks to own, operate and develop cold storage warehouse facilities in North America.

The Swedish buyout group said Thursday that the deal, through its Active Core Infrastructure fund, closely aligns with its strategy of investing in stable core infrastructure assets that provide opportunities for growth.

Americold will contribute 12 U.S. cold storage facilities, which together hold an aggregate value of over $1.3 billion.

EQT will acquire a 70% interest in the venture, with Americold retaining a 30% stake and serving as the day-to-day manager of the facilities in addition to helping identify opportunities to develop assets.

Americold expects to receive around $1.1 billion in net cash proceeds from the deal.

The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
