NEW YORK (AP) _ MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (MKTX) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $52.2 million.

The New York-based company said it had net income of $1.37 per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.43 per share.

The operator of bond trading platforms posted revenue of $165.1 million in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $164.2 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $257.9 million, or $6.77 per share. Revenue was reported as $699 million.
