The 2025 awards season is rapidly approaching, with excitement ramping up as Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut prepare to announce the nominees for the 82nd Annual Golden Globes on Dec. 9, 2024.
Kaling, known for her work on “The Mindy Project” and “Never Have I Ever,” has cemented her reputation as a creative force in the industry. Her latest project, “Running Point,” is set to debut next year.
Chestnut, widely admired for roles in “Boyz n the Hood” and “The Best Man” series, brings extensive experience from decades of celebrated performances. His newest venture, the CBS drama “Watson,” is slated to premiere in January.

The 2025 Golden Globe nominations are likely to include some of the most talked-about films and television shows of 2024. On the film side, Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator 2,” starring Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington, has certainly kept fans entertained. The musical “Wicked,” starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, has been hard to miss with its pink-and-green hued promotional tour and tie-in products.
Other standout contenders include Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi sequel “Dune 2” starring Zendaya and Netflix’s “Emilia Pérez,” featuring Selena Gomez and Karla Sofía Gascón in a musical setting.
Television also has its contenders. FX’s sweeping historical drama “Shōgun” and Netflix’s true-crime series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” are anticipated to rack up some nominations. Returning fan favorites include “The Bear” and “Squid Game,” with its highly anticipated second season premiering on Netflix on Dec. 26.
Since its debut in 1944, the Golden Globes has honored excellence in film and television, emerging as a significant predictor of the Oscars and Emmy Awards. Over the years, past presenters such as Angela Bassett, Laura Dern, Kristen Bell and Snoop Dogg have added their own style of humor and charisma to the nominee announcements.
The 2025 Golden Globes are set to air live on Jan. 5, 2025, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on CBS and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.
