Accenture and Piraeus Bank agreed to establish a dedicated hub for artificial-intelligence driven banking in Greece using Anthropic's AI models.
The hub will centralize efforts to implement AI across the enterprise of Piraeus, Greece's largest lender and one of its top four banks. Its work will draw from Accenture's Data & AI Center of Excellence in Athens, as well as the technology-consulting company's new Anthropic Business Group, the companies said.
The companies said they are hoping to develop AI solutions to make decisions autonomously, streamline operations, and improve experiences for customers and employees. The hub will work to ensure that the AI solutions are secure, human-centric and aligned with Piraeus' values and regulatory requirements, the companies said.
"The AI Hub represents a strategic inflection point for Piraeus," said the bank's group chief operating officer, Harry Margaritis. "We are advancing from individual AI deployments to a unified, enterprise-level capability that is deeply embedded in how the Bank operates."
Piraeus and Accenture had previously collaborated on the bank's cloud-first operating model. Accenture and Anthropic also struck a three-year deal in December to sell AI services to businesses through the Anthropic Business Group.
