London, Dec 13 (EFE).- The BBC complained to Apple on Friday after its new artificial intelligence-powered notification summary service published a fake headline about Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York, that it attributed to the British public broadcaster.

"Luigi Mangione shoots himself," Apple's AI falsely claimed, alongside accurate information about the ouster of Syrian President Bashar Al Asad and an update on South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, according to a screenshot posted by the BBC.

Earlier this week, the iPhone maker launched the "Apple Intelligence" tool in the UK, which uses AI to summarize and group notifications on its mobile devices.

A spokesman for the BBC said it had contacted Apple "to raise this concern and fix the problem." The technology company declined to comment on the matter.

"BBC News is the most trusted news media in the world. It is essential to us that our audiences can trust any information or journalism published in our name and that includes notifications," a spokesperson for the corporation said.EFE
