Get stock price

Finsheet has two functions for you to obtain stock and crypto price for Excel and Google Sheets. They are FS_Latest and FS_Streaming. The first one returns a snapshot of the latest price while the second one streams live the live prices (prices are updated in real-time automatically). While FS_Latest works for all stocks and cryptos, FS_Streaming only works for US stocks and all cryptos. Also if you run FS_Streaming outside the market hour, it will not return any result since there is no live price when the market is closed. Below are some examples on how to use these 2 functions.

  • =FS_Latest("AAPL")
  • =FS_Latest("TSCO.L")
  • =FS_Latest("BINANCE:ETHBTC")
  • a
  • =FS_Streaming("GOOGL")
  • =FS_Streaming("BINANCE:SHIBEUR")
  • =FS_Streaming("COINBASE:ETH-USD")

Get historical price

Finsheet also provides comprehensive historical price for both stocks and cryptos. They have separate functions for each asset class: FS_EquityCandles for stocks and FS_CryptoCandles for cryptos. Their historical data go back all the way, meaning you can get price data from the date a stock IPOed or from the date a crypto symbol first got listed on the exchange. How cool is that? Speaking of cool things, Finsheet also support intra-day with resolution as low as 1-minute. This type of data is perfect for day traders and is usually very expensive to obtain. However, you can enjoy unlimited access to the intra-day with just their Basic plan at $20/month. Below are some examples on how to obtain historical price data:

  • Get daily price of Apple from 07/09/2021 to 09/15/2021:
